U.S. President Joe Biden has described as «embarrassing» the delay in the election of the new head of the House of Representatives, a day after congressmen held three failed votes due to the division within the Republican majority.
«The rest of the world is watching,» said Biden, in statements to the media in which, however, he avoided assessing the internal discrepancies in his political rivals. «It’s not my problem,» said the U.S. president.
The vote should have been a formality for the theoretical Republican aspirant to the presidency of the Lower House, Kevin McCarthy, but a score of his colleagues, representatives of the hardest wing of the party, dissociated themselves from the official line. A new vote is scheduled for Wednesday.
