
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, will pay a two-day official visit to Morocco on Thursday, during which he will meet with the Prime Minister, Aziz Ajanuch, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Naser Burita, among others.
The European External Action Service has indicated in a statement that Borrell «will travel to Morocco for an official visit between January 5 and 6» and added that tomorrow he will hold meetings with Ajanuch, Burita and «other institutional interlocutors of Moroccan society and economic actors».
He also detailed that Borrell, who is also vice president of the European Commission, will participate on Friday in Fez in a meeting with professors and students of the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fez, where he will also deliver a speech.
«The visit will be an occasion for an in-depth discussion on the implementation of the EU-Morocco partnership, integrated in the perspective of the new Agenda for the Mediterranean,» said the agency, which has stressed that Borrell «will address ongoing issues and explore specific fields in which dialogue and cooperation could be strengthened.»
Finally, it has highlighted that «the meetings will also allow to address regional and international issues of common interest and of particular importance in the current difficult world context and the global impact of the Russian war against Ukraine».
