The United States announced Friday sanctions against seven individuals responsible for two Iranian organizations specialized in the development of missile programs and the manufacture of drones delivered to the Russian Army and used during the war in Ukraine.
The individuals hold «leadership positions» in two companies: Qods Aviation Industries (QAI), in charge of the design and production of unmanned aircraft, and the Iran Aerospace Industries Organization (AIO), responsible «for overseeing the country’s ballistic missile programs,» according to a statement from the Treasury Department.
The U.S. government recalls that this new round of sanctions is related to those declared in September and November against «individuals and entities involved in the production and delivery of Shahed and Mohajer model drones, which Moscow continues to use in its brutal attacks against Ukraine.»
«The support for Russia provided by the Iranian regime’s military not only fuels the conflict in Ukraine but also violates United Nations Security Council resolutions,» the US State Department denounces.
«Iran has now become Russia’s primary military supporter, and must end its support for this unprovoked war of aggression that Russia is waging in Ukraine,» the US government adds.
