The Moldovan Army will receive on Tuesday the first batch of Piranha model armored vehicles supplied by the German authorities under an agreement between Berlin and Chisinau signed in October 2021.
As reported by the Moldovan Ministry of Defense in a statement, this supply of armored vehicles is aimed at «improving the capabilities of the National Army», even more so at a time when the country is under a state of emergency.
In addition, the armored vehicles will also be used as part of the training process of the military to be deployed for international peacekeeping missions, as detailed by the Moldovan Defense Ministry.
The Chisinau authorities decreed a state of emergency on February 24 – coinciding with the outbreak of war in neighboring Ukraine – and have warned on several occasions of possible Russian plans to attack their national territory.
