A Peruvian judge has rejected the request of former Peruvian presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori to travel to Madrid on the grounds of the trial in which she is accused of crimes of illegal financing of her electoral campaigns of 2011 and 2016 for which she could be sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Judge Víctor Zúñiga Urday has declared unfounded the request of the leader of Fuerza Popular to travel to Spain from January 22 to 27 to participate in an academic activity to which she was invited by Javier Cremades García, president of the World Law Foundation (WLF).
The former presidential candidate is facing criminal proceedings for the alleged crimes of money laundering and others under an order to appear with restrictions subject to rules of conduct, including the prohibition to leave her place of residence in Metropolitan Lima without judicial authorization.
Judge Zúñiga already warned Fujimori on Dec. 5 for not having adequately informed about the details of a trip to attend an academic activity in the United Kingdom.
