Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will hold a meeting on Thursday in Brussels on the sidelines of the Ukrainian leader’s visit to the summit of European leaders.
This was reported Wednesday by the Italian news agency AdnKronos after consulting government sources. However, Brussels has not yet confirmed the visit, citing security reasons.
Zelenski traveled to London on Wednesday, where he met with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and King Charles III. Later, the Ukrainian leader will go to Paris, where he will meet not only with the French president, Emmanuel Macron, but also with the German chancellor, Olaf Scholz.
The Ukrainian President confirmed in mid-January that Meloni would travel «very soon» to Kiev, although he did not go into details about the possible dates of such a visit and, in fact, the Italian Prime Minister has not yet visited Ukraine.
For his part, Meloni took advantage of Zelenski’s trip to the United States at the end of December to invite him to travel to Italy, confirming also at that time his intention to travel to Kiev.
