At least one person has been killed and several injured in a shooting on the campus of the University of Michigan, according to local police, who said the suspect is still at large.
The number and condition of those injured is unknown at this time, although police authorities have reported that they are looking for a suspect who they believe fled on foot, as reported by NBC.
Following the shooting, Michigan State University has been on lockdown and surrounded by police officers. The academic institution has sent a message to students urging them to take shelter in a safe place.
«Run, hide, fight,» read the alert sent to students at around 8:30 p.m. «Run means evacuate away from danger if you can do so safely, hide means secure yourself in place, and fight means protect yourself if there is no other option,» the University of Michigan has detailed.
