Leeds United announced on Tuesday the appointment of Spaniard Javi Gracia as their new manager, replacing American Jesse Marsch, who was sacked a fortnight ago due to the delicate situation of a team second-bottom in the Premier League.
The Navarrese, whose contract is pending the relevant work permit and who had been out of work since leaving Qatar’s Al-Sadd last year, returns to the English championship, where he already shone at the helm of Watford, whom he even led to the FA Cup final of the 2018-2019 season.
«Leeds United is delighted to announce that the club has reached an agreement with Javi Gracia to become first-team men’s coach, subject to a work permit. The experienced 52-year-old has agreed a flexible contract at Elland Road,» said Leeds United, who hope the Spaniard can take his place in the dugout for Saturday’s league clash at home to Southampton.
