Belgian club Club Brugge announced on Wednesday the sacking of English coach Scott Parker following Tuesday’s 5-1 defeat to Portuguese side Benfica in the last 16, which knocked them out of the Champions League.
«Scott Parker is no longer coach of Club Brugge. Parker was appointed the new coach of Club Brugge on 31 December, replacing Carl Hoefkens. Before coming to Jan Breydel, the former England international was in charge of teams such as Fulham and Bournemouth,» the club said in a statement.
The former Fulham and Bournemouth boss was relieved of his duties after just 12 games in charge of the Belgian side. The coach, who took over from Carl Hoefkens on 31 December, only managed two wins. Brugge are currently fourth in the Belgian league, 41 points behind leaders Genk.
