Islamic State killed seven Syrian civilians Thursday while they were collecting truffles during an attack in Hama province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
Truffles are one of the main sources of funding for Syrian civilians, which can fetch around 75,000 Syrian pounds (about 27 euros) per kilogram, although in Damascus, the capital, they can fetch up to 180,000 Syrian pounds (about 66 euros).
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has also denounced that the Islamic State takes advantage of the needs of the population to set »death traps» for them in the desert, which have resulted in 94 civilians killed this 2023.
In addition, the number of casualties in military operations in the Syrian desert this year is already 69, distributed among four members of the Islamic State and 65 members of the Syrian Army and its various militias.
