The Islamic State jihadist group claimed responsibility Tuesday for Monday’s suicide bombing near Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry headquarters in the capital, Kabul, which killed at least six people.
According to a statement published by the Amaq agency, established by the group to disseminate its propaganda, the attack was carried out by a terrorist who »managed to cross the door» of the building after »overcoming all the fortifications» of the security forces.
Thus, the group has assured that the terrorist »waited for the employees to leave the building and activated an explosive belt near them in the vicinity of a checkpoint», causing 20 victims, »between dead and wounded».
The spokesman of the Kabul Police, Jalid Zadran, indicated after the event that the Taliban forces opened fire against the terrorist at a checkpoint »before he reached his target». He also detailed that the attacker »set off his explosives», killing six civilians and wounding several people.
Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), which considers the Taliban as traitors to the orthodoxy of ‘sharia’ or Islamic law and advocates a much harsher interpretation, has been the target of a security campaign by the Taliban following its campaign of attacks in recent months in Afghanistan.
