At least two Islamic State militiamen have been killed and a third arrested in an operation by Taliban forces in Afghanistan’s Nimroz province.
The military operation was carried out in the town of Zaranj, according to Afghan Tolo News television. Neighbors in the area reported heavy gunfire and explosions for more than an hour.
After the Taliban seizure of power in August 2021, the Islamists have launched several operations against the Islamic State throughout the country, the main armed counter to their rule.
The jihadist group has perpetrated numerous attacks, mainly against ethnic or religious minorities and security forces.
