CNN announced Monday that television anchor Don Lemon will no longer work for the U.S. network after he was involved in a controversy in February following sexist comments against former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.
Don will always be part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years,» explained CNN CEO Chris Licht in a statement, adding that they wish »the best» to the journalist.
In mid-February, Lemon claimed on a CNN talk show that at 51 Haley was not »in her prime» to run for election in 2024, alluding that a woman is »at her best» in her 20s, 30s or 40s.
The announcement comes after conservative Fox announced that TV host Tucker Carlson would be leaving the network. The U.S. media allude that it is a mere coincidence that both media outlets have decided to announce the departure of their anchors on the same day.
