At least 18 people have been killed and 33 injured after a tourist bus fell into a ravine in the western Mexican state of Nayarit.
The dead include seven men and eleven women, and among the injured are at least a dozen minors, according to federal authorities.
The vehicle, which was on its way from the city of Guadalajara to the tourist beach area located in Rincón de Guayabitos, 260 kilometers away, suffered a mechanical failure on Saturday night that caused it to leave the road.

For his part, the mayor of Guadalajara, Pablo Lemus, has indicated that his cabinet »remains attentive to the needs of the families affected by the accident» and has pointed out that he is working in coordination with the authorities of Jalisco »to attend and transfer those affected by the traffic accident».
