Ukraine raises death toll of children killed since start of war with Russia to nearly 350

Ukrainian authorities on Tuesday raised to nearly 350 the number of children killed since the beginning of the Russian invasion, unleashed on February 24 on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who days earlier had recognized the independence of the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk.

The Ukrainian Prosecutor’s Office has indicated via Telegram that it has so far been able to verify 348 children killed and «more than 650» wounded, although it has stressed that «these figures are not final, as work is ongoing in places of active hostilities and in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories.»

Thus, he detailed that the Donetsk oblast is the one with the highest number of victims, with 348 dead and wounded. Behind are the Kharkov region with 190, the Kiev region with 116, the Chernobyl region with 68, the Lugansk region with 61, the Mikolaiv region with 53, the Kherson region with 52 and the Zaporiyia region with 31.

Finally, it has denounced that 2,121 educational institutions have suffered material damage as a result of the attacks by the Russian forces, of which a total of 216 have been «completely destroyed». It has also provided a web page and two telephone numbers to «provide information on war crimes against children».
