Syrian authorities have warned that early Thursday morning they intercepted a new airstrike blamed on the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the third bombing carried out against the territory in less than a week.

The Syrian Defense Ministry has thus accused the Israeli Army of launching missiles against several points near the capital Damascus, according to a statement indicating that several areas have been hit.

In this regard, the Syrian authorities have confirmed that for the moment no fatalities have been recorded and have assured that most of the missiles have been intercepted, as reported by the SANA news agency.

«The Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression from the area of the occupied Palestinian territories and targeted some points in the vicinity of the city of Damascus. Our air defense systems have coped with the missiles and shot down some of them. The losses are material,» the Ministry stressed.

The Israeli authorities have not commented for the moment, although on previous occasions they have reported operations and attacks against targets of Iranian-backed groups in Syria.
