
The main suspect in Wednesday’s attack on Iran’s Shah Cheragh mosque in the southeastern city of Shiraz has succumbed to wounds sustained from gunfire by security forces following the attack.
The office of the governor of the province of Fars, through its security chief, Ismail Mohibipour, confirmed the death of the suspect, who had since been admitted to hospital in critical condition, reports the official Iranian news agency IRNA.
The attack cost the lives of 13 people and left at least 40 wounded, of whom at least 14 are still hospitalized, the security official of the province, of which Shiraz is the capital, told IRNA.
The Islamic State jihadist organization claimed responsibility for the attack.
