The Russian and Ukrainian authorities have denounced on Saturday a large explosion that occurred in the last hours in the city of Zaporiyia, which according to Kiev would have resulted in the destruction of an industrial building, with no casualties reported.
Russia and Ukraine usually reproach each other for these bombardments on the city, as well as on the nuclear plant of the same name, which is located on the other bank of the Dnieper river, in the city of Energodar.
On this occasion, the head of the Ukrainian administration, Oleksander Starukh, denounced the shelling as a Russian «missile» attack, although it caused no loss of life.
«Everyone is alive and unharmed but, as a result of the impact, an industrial building was destroyed. Today’s event reminds us once again that we must always remain vigilant and careful.
Stay in shelters, repeat attacks are likely,» he let it be known on his Telegram account.
Shortly thereafter, the chairman of the «We stand with Russia» movement and Russian official in the locality, Vladimir Rogov, reported in a message picked up by the TASS agency of a «large explosion in Zaporiyia at around 12.25 local time.
«Right now we are investigating the circumstances of the explosion and its consequences, but we can say that a large column of smoke rose and the explosion was heard throughout the city,» he said.
