U.S. President Joe Biden voted in advance of the midterm elections to be held next Tuesday, November 8, in his home state of Delaware, accompanied by his granddaughter Natalie, on Saturday afternoon.
These elections are of vital importance for the Democratic Party since they will condition its representation in the legislature. Biden has affirmed in declarations to journalists that this is not a referendum for his reelection, but a choice between «two very different visions of the country».
In his visit to the state of Pennsylvania this Friday, he also stressed the relevance of the elections. «There are eleven days left. Eleven days until the most important midterm election of our lifetime. And that’s not hyperbole. It’s going to shape what this country is going to look like for the next decade or more. It’s not a joke,» he remarked.
Currently, the Democrats have razor-thin majorities in both houses, while in the House of Representatives they have a mere 10-seat advantage over the Republicans, in the Senate they are even with the conservative party, although they are favored by Kamala Harris’ casting vote as Speaker of the Upper House.
