The leftist candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (50.57 percent) has won by a narrow margin over his rival and current Brazilian president, Jair Bolsonaro (49.43 percent) with 91.42 percent counted, thus strengthening his chances of a comeback after Bolsonaro was ahead at the beginning of the count.

These data disclosed by the Superior Electoral Court on its website are provisional for the moment and could change as the recount progresses, although at all times Lula’s trend has been upward and Bolsonaro’s downward.

As happened in the first round on October 2, Bolsonaro has appeared as the most voted option until well into the count. Then it was Lula who won the most support, although not enough to win outright in the first round.
