Iran’s security forces arrested six people on Monday allegedly linked to last week’s attack on a Shiite mosque in the southwestern city of Shiraz, which left some 15 people dead.
The country’s Ministry of Intelligence and National Security has indicated in a statement that the arrests have taken place after a «difficult operation» to identify them, although the second armed assailant is also in custody, according to information from the Tasnim news agency.
On October 26, three gunmen opened fire on people praying at the Shah Cheragh mosque. The attack also wounded some 45 people, including minors.
Although the Islamic State terrorist group was quick to claim responsibility for the attack, several Iranian media outlets have pointed out that it was a «terrorist act» attributed to members of radical Wahhabi groups.
