The vice-president of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, said Wednesday that the arrival of Lula da Silva to the Brazilian government removes the possibility of a military invasion of the country.

After welcoming the victory of Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva in the second round of the elections of October 30, the number two of chavismo has distanced the possibility of a military invasion from Brazilian territory to Venezuela as allegedly planned by the outgoing Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

«Far away will be the possibility of invasion to Venezuela that Bolsonaro raised to his officials and of which they refused to execute his plan, but it was agreed that on February 23, 2019 they would execute a military aggression using the Brazilian border territory», have indicated Cabello in his radio program ‘Con el Mazo Dando’.

Brazil was one of the Latin American countries, besides the United States and Canada, that recognized the head of the National Assembly, Juan Guaidó, as «president in charge» of Venezuela, reason for which there was speculation about the possible Brazilian military intervention to depose Nicolás Maduro from the position of Venezuelan head of state.
