Princess Amalia, heiress to the Dutch throne, has reappeared to the public three weeks after secluding herself in the home of her parents, King Willem-Alexander and Máxima, in The Hague, amid fears of a possible attack or kidnapping.
Accompanied by her parents and her two sisters, Alexia and Ariane, the 18-year-old attended a photo exhibition on the life of her great-grandmother, Queen Juliana, in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam, on Friday.
However, the royal family has not agreed to answer questions about the situation of Princess Amalia after it was reported in mid-October that she remained in seclusion in a family residence, a situation «very difficult» to explain for King Willem-Alexander himself.
Already in September the Dutch newspaper ‘De Telegraaf’ reported that the princess’s security team had been reinforced, after her name, as well as that of Prime Minister Mark Rutte, appeared in intercepted conversations with several people allegedly linked to the underworld.
