ISLAMABAN (DPA/EP) An unidentified gunman has killed three men in the northern Afghan province of Faryab, two of them miners and the third a member of the Taliban, officials said.
The attack took place on Friday night in a salt mine in the town of Andkhoi in Faryab province, the director of the Department of Information and Culture, Shamsuddin Mohammadi, told dpa.
Following the incident, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Since the Taliban’s return to power last year, many armed resistance groups have been formed against this hardliner. However, these groups have made no significant gains.
Instead, Islamic State attacks on both civilians and members of the Taliban’s security forces have become frequent.
At least 53 students, mostly young women, were killed and more than a hundred others wounded in a suicide attack inside an education center in Kabul a month ago.
