Authorities in the Chernobyl region, in northern Ukraine bordering Russia and Belarus, have urged residents of neighboring areas to move to other points further into Ukrainian territory.
The governor of Chernobyl, Vyacheslav Chaus, has ordered to reinforce the relocation operations of those «potentially vulnerable» border territories, as reported by the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform.
In this regard, Chaus emphasized that the authorities already have practical experience in this regard after having ordered the evacuation of the Novgorod-Siverski raion (a minor territorial entity).
Chernobyl was one of the first Ukrainian regions to fall into Russian hands during the war. However, a few weeks later, the country’s authorities reported the liberation of the territory.
After this, Russia has not ceased its efforts to seize this territory, which Kiev said was 70 percent destroyed, and has continued to launch constant attacks.
