Journalist and TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak has returned to Russia during the last few hours, according to sources quoted by the Russian news agency TASS, nearly two weeks after fleeing the country following a search of her home in an alleged extortion case involving her business manager, Kirill Sukhanov.

«Ksenia Sobchak has crossed the border between Russia and Latvia through the Burachki border crossing in the Peskov region,» these sources have indicated, without the Russian authorities having pronounced for the moment on the possible return of the journalist.

The home of Sobchak, daughter of the former mayor of St. Petersburg, Anatoli Sobchak, was raided at the end of October despite the fact that there is no warrant against her, although she is wanted by the Russian authorities.

The operation took place after Sukhanov was arrested following the opening of a case against him for allegedly extorting 11 million rubles from Sergei Chemezov, CEO of Rostec and very close to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Last September 12, Russian police checked one of Sobchak’s Telegram channels for «LGBTI propaganda» after interviewing Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina, who revealed this summer that she was a lesbian.
