Peru’s Prime Minister, Anibal Torres, has ruled out apologizing to a journalist he accused of being a «bad mother» and a «bad wife» while criticizing his work on the grounds that she was manipulating the audience.
«Whoever distorts the truth cannot be a good person or a good communicator», Aníbal has settled on Twitter, after the controversy raised by his words in a meeting last week with local representatives of Huancavelica about the lack of asphalting in the city, after a TV report on this issue was broadcasted.
«The criticisms I make against that ideological bias of certain media companies are framed solely in that context. It is unethical to misrepresent my statements for the sole purpose of attacking,» he has defended.
«Our government reaffirms its fight against all forms of machismo and discrimination,» said the Peruvian Prime Minister, whose words were even censured by the Minister of Women, Claudia Davila, who considered them an «excess» and «unfortunate».
Those statements by Torres took place last November 3 during a meeting with representatives of Huancavelica in which he made reference to the report that was broadcasted in the program Cuarto Poder, directed by journalist Sol Carrello and aired on América Televisión channel.
«I am sure you have seen a TV program on Sunday night in which a conductor shows a road in Huancavelica that is not asphalted, and I ask you: is it the only road that is not asphalted in Peru? The whole of Peru is like that, that is the reality, it has to be paved», he acknowledged.
«But all that is not going to be remedied overnight, we have to do everything within the budget, why that lady does that and manipulates people taking advantage of her scarce knowledge, to do harm», he said.
In this, Torres affirmed that Carrello was acting in «bad faith» and with «bad intentions» and that she acted in this way because «she is a bad mother», «bad wife», and «bad daughter» and that if she had children, she would be «deforming» them and raising them «with superiority complexes».
