Former U.S. President Donald Trump has predicted that Tuesday will be a «great night» for Republicans, hinting at a possible good outcome for the party in the midterm elections.
The former president has deposited his vote in Palm Beach, in the state of Florida, from where he has addressed the media to confirm that he has bet on the Republican Ron DeSantis to revalidate his mandate as governor.
Trump and DeSantis have had some tensions in recent weeks as rumors of a possible candidacy of the tycoon for the presidential elections of 2024 increase; a possibility that is increasingly real also in the case of the governor of Florida.
«I think we’re going to have a great night and it’s exciting,» said former President Trump, who will carefully observe the results from his Mar-a-Lago mansion, the scene of an FBI raid in early August and where the federal agency seized dozens of sensitive documents.
The U.S. population is called to the polls this Tuesday to renew the mandates in the House of Representatives, as well as slightly more than a third of the Senate. In addition, 36 states will also vote to appoint a new governor.
