The results of Tuesday’s mid-term elections in the United States will not affect U.S. President Joe Biden’s decision on whether or not to run in the next presidential election in 2024.

This has been confirmed by a U.S. Government advisor to CNN, who nevertheless acknowledged that the outcome of the House and Senate elections will probably reshape Washington and, therefore, the functioning of the White House.

In this sense, the US official pointed out that Biden’s Democratic predecessors, former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, suffered a defeat in the midterm elections and then won re-election two years later.

Biden has reiterated on several occasions his intention to run again, although he has not made it official so far. Some critics of this decision have pointed out that for the 2024 elections the president will be 81 years old.
