Authorities in Denmark have granted permission to the operator of the Nord Stream pipeline, Nord Stream AG, to launch an on-site investigation into possible sabotage of the pipeline in September.

This was confirmed Thursday by the head of the Danish Mapping and Cadastre Agency, Pia Dal Hoygard, to the Danish public radio station DR.

To date, Nord Stream AG has also carried out a survey in Sweden’s Exclusive Economic Zone using a Russian vessel, TASS reports.

According to a company press release, «artificial craters three to five meters deep have been found at a distance of about 248 meters from each other on the seabed,» and a gas pipeline has been destroyed in the area between the two sinkholes.

Both the authorities in Denmark and Sweden have concluded in their respective investigations that the September explosions were provoked, although the perpetrator has not been determined.
