Hurricane Nicole made landfall early Thursday morning in the U.S. state of Florida, which has already begun to suffer inclement weather that, according to authorities, could cause severe flooding or power outages.

The hurricane has already wreaked havoc in the Bahamas and now keeps under warning the southeastern United States, despite having lost some strength and being considered a tropical storm. The National Hurricane Center (CNH) estimates that it is advancing with maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour.

The warnings extend from Boca Raton to counties north of the city of Orlando. Governor Ron DeSantis has activated the National Guard and mobilized some 16,000 troops in anticipation of what may occur, with states of emergency officially declared in 45 of Florida’s counties, reports NBC.

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has approved the declaration of emergency in the state due to the arrival of ‘Nicole’, which began to form on November 7 and has made history in the North American country. It is the latest hurricane to hit Florida’s Atlantic coast, although the season officially ends on November 30.
