The British government said Thursday that in total it has frozen assets of Russian oligarchs, individuals and entities valued at about €20 billion under sanctions imposed over the invasion of Ukraine.
«We have imposed the toughest sanctions against Russia and its war machine,» asserted Andrew Griffith, a senior government official. «Our message is clear: we will not allow (Vladimir) Putin to succeed in this brutal war.»
For the moment, London has imposed sanctions against more than 1,200 individuals and 120 entities linked to Russia, according to information gathered by the Bloomberg news agency.
Russian troops continue their attacks on Ukrainian soil. In the last day, Moscow has shelled the Nikopol district of the Dnipropetrovsk region. Over the past week, the Russian Army has pounded Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporiyia and Mikolaiv regions, among others.
However, Ukrainian forces continue to advance towards the defense lines of Russian forces in the Kherson region, where the withdrawal of Russian troops is expected to begin soon.
