A couple of environmental activists have unsuccessfully attempted to attach themselves to the frame of Edvard Munch’s iconic painting of ‘The Scream’ at the National Museum in Oslo, Norway.
The two activists and a third, who was filming the act, have been detained by the museum’s security guards.
Police have confirmed that the attempt has left glue residue on the glass that protects the painting, otherwise intact, as made known in his Twitter account.
‘The Scream’ is considered the Norwegian painter’s most famous work and has become this Friday the target of the group «Stopp oljeletinga» (Stop oil exploration).
The three detainees are citizens of Finland, Denmark and Norway, according to the police.
In a statement, the organization demanded the immediate suspension of all exploration and development licenses for new oil and gas fields in Norway, one of the world’s largest producers.
