The attorney general of the Mexican state of Morelos, Uriel Carmona, will appear next Wednesday in the state Congress for his alleged complicity with those suspected of carrying out the femicide of young Ariadna Fernanda.
After Carmona has been linked to the suspect of murdering the 27-year-old, as well as her partner, for a case of cover-up, Mexican authorities have requested him to make an appearance in the state Parliament to share and explain his report on the femicide, as reported by ‘El Sol de Mexico’.
Likewise, the heads of the State Security Commission (CES), José Antonio Ortiz and of the State Government Secretariat, Samuel Sotelo, have been summoned next Wednesday. In addition, the deputies have authorized the creation of the Special Legislative Commission for the follow-up of Feminicide cases in Morelos.
In declarations to ‘La Lista’, the president of the state Congress, Francisco Erik Sanchez, explained that the appearance of the prosecutor Carmona is requested «in order for him to report on the violent events that have occurred» in Morelos and that in the last few days have worsened «in an alarming way for society».
In addition, Carmona must explain in plenary session everything he knows about the discovery of Ariadna Fernanda’s lifeless body, an event that has caused accusations against the State Attorney General’s Office.
This week, the Morelos prosecutor was accused by the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum of trying to cover up Ariadna’s femicide after a second autopsy was carried out in Mexico City.
Following a subsequent confrontation between the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office and that of Morelos, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has maintained that the authorities involved should be denounced for the alleged links of prosecutor Uriel Carmona in a «cover-up case».
«There are suspicions of complicity. Of course, punish those responsible and zero impunity, that is the worst thing there can be, that there is no division, separation between alleged criminals and authorities or that there is protection, that things are hidden, that they want to protect criminals», López Obrador has reproached.
Ariadna Fernanda, who lived in Mexico City, disappeared on October 30 after meeting with a group of friends in the Condesa neighborhood of the capital. Two days later some cyclists found her body on a road in the neighboring state of Morelos.
Mexican authorities claim that the suspect and his partner, Vanessa, are allegedly linked to Morelos prosecutor’s office staff in a «cover-up case» by Morelos prosecutor Uriel Carmona Gándara.
