Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned Monday that there is a «Russophobic consensus» among U.S. elites and expressed that it is a «trend» contrary to Russian interests.

«Unfortunately for Russia, the general consensus within the US ‘establishment’ is to continue the illogical and Russophobic line, which is sad,» Peskov said, Interfax news agency reported.

This is how he referred to the results of the midterm elections held in the United States, which, as Peskov pointed out, are «regrettable» for Russia, which could be subjected to new sanctions by Washington.

On the other hand, Peskov has stressed that President Vladimir Putin has decided not to attend the G20 summit because «his presence is necessary in Russia» due to the invasion of Ukraine and has supported that it has been the Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, who has gone in his place.

In this regard, he has emphasized that the leaders of the G20 countries will be able to hold meetings with the Russian delegation if they so wish. «Lavrov is communicating with a large number of participants of this summit. Everyone else, if they show readiness, has the opportunity to enter into contact with Russia at the highest level as well,» he has defended.
