The President of Argentina, Alberto Fernandez, was admitted on Tuesday to a hospital in Bali, Indonesia, shortly before his presentation at the G20 summit, after suffering an «episode of hypotension and dizziness» that later developed into a case of «erosive gastritis with signs of bleeding», according to the latest report.

«I had a decompensation due to erosive gastritis that caused bleeding and a significant drop in blood pressure,» confirmed Fernandez, who after leaving the hospital hours later returned to the summit venue at the lavish hotel complex The Apurva Kempinski to meet with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.

The Presidential Medical Unit has informed that Fernandez «suffered an episode of hypertension and dizziness» and that for this reason «it was decided to carry out the necessary diagnostic studies in order to preserve his health and avoid complications».

Hours later, a new medical report has indicated that the Argentine president suffers from «an erosive gastritis with signs of bleeding» and therefore «received the appropriate medical treatment», reports the newspaper ‘La Nación’.

According to the same report, Fernández is «in good health» and has resumed his activities under medical supervision. Sources consulted by the aforementioned newspaper acknowledged that there was some concern during the first hours in which the president began to suffer these symptoms.

At all times, Fernandez has been accompanied by the Secretary General of the Presidency, Julio Vitobello; by the spokesperson, Gabriela Cerruti; and by the head of the Medical Unit, Manuel Estigarribia; as well as by his security personnel and even the Indonesian Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin. His place at the summit was taken by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Santiago Cafiero.
