Indonesian President Joko Widodo warned Tuesday in the opening speech of the G20 Summit about the renewed division in which the world finds itself.
«We all have a responsibility, not only for our peoples, but also for the peoples of the world,» Widodo, the host of this year’s summit told world leaders gathered for the first plenary session on food security.
«We must not divide the world into parts,» he said, calling for the world not to fall into another world war. «Being responsible means respecting international laws and the principles of the UN charter consistently,» Widodo said.
In view of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he added that it is necessary to «put an end to the war»: «If the war does not end, it will be difficult for the world to move forward».
The G20 international forum, attended by political leaders with the aim of promoting the world’s financial stability, begins this Tuesday.
