North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said Saturday that if «enemies» continue to threaten his country and resort to nuclear attack, his country will react «resolutely» with nuclear weapons and all-out confrontation.

The North Korean news agency KCNA has reported that the leader has urged to «constantly strengthen» strategic nuclear weapons and «more vigorously» stimulate the development of this weaponry, as well as to intensify the training of nuclear weapons operation units to fulfill the «important strategic duty» in any «situation and at any time».

According to the same agency, Kim Jong Un has justified the importance of reinforcing his armament of this nature by the «recent dangerous situation in which the military threats of the United States and other hostile forces are becoming more and more evident».

These declarations come after two consecutive days of ballistic missile launches into the Sea of Japan, after warning the United States that it would take «fiercer» military action if it continued its armed activity with Seoul and Tokyo.

North Korea has also confirmed that this Friday it carried out the test of a new intercontinental ballistic missile that is part of the defense building strategy, which «constitutes a priority» for the country in the framework of nuclear deterrence.

This week, the United States, as well as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has shared its evidence that North Korea is «likely» to conduct a nuclear missile test, the first since 2017, after noting an escalation of tension in recent weeks.
