An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 on the open Richter scale has shaken Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, on Monday, with no reports of casualties or material damage for the moment.

The Indonesian National Meteorological, Geophysical and Climatological Agency (BMKG) has indicated on its website that the earthquake occurred at 13.21 hours (local time), with its epicenter ten kilometers south of the city of Cianjur. «Attention to the possibility of aftershocks,» he warns, before specifying that there is no risk of tsunami.

For its part, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has noted that the earthquake has shaken the capital, with no reports of serious damage. «Stay calm, do not panic and evacuate through the designated routes,» it has recommended through its account on the social network Twitter.
