Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak has proposed to Berlin to deploy German air defense systems on Ukraine’s western border, following the recent spate of Russian missile attacks.
«After more Russian missile attacks, I have turned to Germany to transfer the Patriot batteries offered to Poland to Ukraine and deploy them on the western border,» the Polish minister has explained through a message on his Twitter social network profile.
Blaszczak added that this measure «will protect Ukraine from further casualties and blackouts, while increasing the security of its eastern border, referring to the territorial boundary between Poland and Ukraine.
The Polish Defense Ministry has requested to transfer the defensive armament to Ukrainian territory, after Germany offered this material following last week’s missile strike in Prezwodow, near the Ukrainian border, in which two civilians were killed, reports the dpa agency.
Western powers have indicated that it could be a Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile used for defense, while Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski maintains that it was a Russian missile, although he cannot explain with complete certainty what happened in the incident.
