Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet next Monday in Moscow with his Kazakh counterpart, Kasim Yomart Tokayev, who will pay an official visit to Russia almost a week after being sworn back into office at the head of the country following the elections held on November 20.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Preskov has indicated that it will be Tokayev’s first visit abroad after being re-elected with more than 80 percent of the vote and a turnout of around 70 percent.

«It will be an important visit for bilateral relations between the two countries,» Peskov has asserted, according to information from the Interfax news agency. Thus, he asked not to pay attention to the comments of experts on Russia-Kazakhstan relations.

«These opinions are irrelevant. You should not pay attention to them,» he said before stressing the «friendly partnership between the two countries,» which is «beneficial for both sides.»

The Kazakh authorities have confirmed the visit and pointed out that the two leaders plan to address the participants of the Interregional Cooperation Forum to be held in the Russian city of Orenburg, in the southwest of the country, as reported by the newspaper ‘Kazpravda’.
