
The governor of the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo confirmed Saturday the death of 38-year-old teacher Flávia Amboss Merçon, who was wounded after a man opened fire at two schools in the municipality of Aracruz, bringing the death toll to four.
«Unfortunately the tragedy in Aracruz is not yet over. It is with deep regret that we confirm the death of another victim, teacher Flávia Amboss Merçon, just 38 years old. Our solidarity embrace to family and friends,» wrote Governor Renato Casagrande on his Twitter profile.
Following the shooting, three teachers from the Primo Bitti State Primary and Secondary School and a student from the private school Centro Educacional Praia de Coqueiral have been killed, while the number of wounded has risen to twelve.
The teenager, and former student of the first school, who confessed to being the perpetrator of the shooting was arrested Saturday by the authorities, after which he declared that he used a gun belonging to his father and had been planning the attack for two years.
