Emergency services have located two more lifeless bodies among the debris left by a landslide on the Italian island of Ischia, bringing the provisional death toll to ten, which may still rise because two people are unaccounted for.

Search teams are working around the clock in Casamicciola, where the last two bodies have been found. They are the parents of children who had already been found dead after the tragedy occurred last Saturday, reports Rai channel.

An official of the Naples Fire Department, Adriano De Acutis, explained that the personnel are working «24 hours a day», from the point where the landslide started to the coast. However, he also stated that the almost 200 firefighters deployed are also working with special care, securing unstable areas.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Naples has opened an investigation to determine if there is any responsibility in this event, although so far no one has been named in an investigation that is examining, among other possible charges, that of involuntary manslaughter. Among the aspects being examined are the maintenance of the watercourses and building permits, due to the precarious conditions of some of the houses.
