The Parliament of the Czech Republic has approved on Tuesday the training of Ukrainian military that the government expects would train 800 soldiers.

The Czech Lower House has approved the stay of Ukrainian soldiers in the country, while it has validated the sending of Czech military to other member states of the European Union with the aim of training members of the Ukrainian Army, in the framework of Russia’s invasion.

This proposal of the Czech Executive has to be approved by the Senate, where it will be debated this Thursday, the Czech news agency CTK reported.

According to the government document, five four-week tours training 800 Ukrainian soldiers will take place next year in Libavá, in the east of the Czech Republic.

«The main emphasis will be placed on training of new or mobilized Ukrainian soldiers, operation of weapon systems, management of planning processes, i.e. all activities necessary for successfully carrying out the fight against the Russian aggressor,» reads the document accessed by the aforementioned agency.

This measure, which will involve military intelligence and military police, is based on a bilateral agreement between the Czech and Ukrainian governments.

The deputies have also approved the extension of the participation of the Czech Army in two foreign missions. Thus, the Czech Republic would participate with about twenty soldiers in the NATO mission in Iraq in 2023 and 2024. Meanwhile, the Parliament has considered sending several dozen soldiers to Kosovo, where they will work with the Italian Carabinieri until the end of 2024.
