At least six people were injured on Tuesday after a fire broke out in a tent that serves as a school in a camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the northern Syrian province of Raqqa, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The London-based organization, with informants in the Arab country, said on its website that the event took place in the Tal al Samen camp, located in the north of the province, and detailed that all the wounded are students, two of whom are in serious condition.

He said that the fire was caused by the fuel used to heat the tent, given the difficulties faced by the residents of this camp to cope with the living conditions and the arrival of low temperatures due to the winter.

According to data from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the more than ten years of war have left 6.9 million internally displaced persons, in addition to millions of refugees, while 14.6 million people are in need of humanitarian aid in the country.
