A young man in his 20s was arrested Tuesday in Luton, southern United Kingdom, on suspicion of throwing an egg at England’s King Charles III, Bedfordshire County Police said.
It is the second time the British monarch has faced such a situation, after just under a month ago, a 23-year-old student was arrested after throwing eggs at him and Queen Camilla when they visited the city of York to unveil a statue in honor of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The monarch was shaking hands with a cheering crowd who came to greet him despite the cold weather, when the eggs flew over the area. As on that occasion in York, none of them hit the monarch, who was removed from the site by his security services.
Shortly after the incident, Charles III met with several civil society leaders, inaugurated a Sikh temple and even used a new train line connecting the city center with the airport, reports the BBC.
