A team hired by lawyers for former U.S. President Donald Trump has found at least two allegedly classified documents in a storage unit in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The documents have been immediately turned over to the FBI, The Washington Post has learned.
No further classified documents have been found at the other Trump properties searched, which include Trump Tower in New York, the Bedminster golf club, an office and a storage unit in Florida.
These search warrants–under the supervision of the former president’s legal team–have been carried out due to concerns from the Justice Department, which fears that not all official documents have been returned to the government.
A federal judge urged Trump’s lawyers to make sure they fully complied with a subpoena from earlier this year that asked the country’s former leader to turn over the remaining classified documents, ‘The Hill’ reports.
Lawyers indicated in mid-October that they were considering allowing federal agents to search the Mar-a-Lago mansion in Florida to satisfy Justice’s demands, CNN has learned.
