The new Prime Minister of Peru, Pedro Angulo, has defended the technical expertise of the new Council of Ministers that was sworn in yesterday before President Dina Boluarte to become the first executive after the dismissal of former President Pedro Castillo, investigated for attempted coup d’état.

«In principle there have to be changes, technical people have to enter and for that the greatest guarantee is that all the ministers who have entered, all are career people,» he said in an interview to the PBO channel.

«Here we are talking about a technical cabinet», he emphasized in his declarations, the first ones after becoming head of government, reported by the Andina news agency.

One of the first measures he announced was the creation of a new anti-corruption commission, distanced from its deceased predecessors thanks to a «firm political will».

Among the appointments are, for example, those of Alberto Otárola as Minister of Defense, César Augusto Cervantes Cárdenas (Interior), Alex Contreras (Economy and Finance), José Andrés Tello Alfaro (Justice), Ana Cecilia Gerbasi Díaz (Foreign Affairs) or Óscar Vera Gargurevich (Energy and Mines), in a cabinet with eight women.
