Seven people linked to the French far-right movement Zouaves Paris have been brought to court on Saturday for prosecution after being arrested in Paris last Wednesday, when the Moroccan and French soccer teams faced each other, when they intended to «give battle» to Moroccan fans armed with knives.
Among those arrested is the leader of the Zouaves Paris group, Marc de Cacqueray-Valmenier, considered close to the far-right leader Éric Zemmour, according to sources quoted by BFMTV television. De Cacqueray-Valmenier was already arrested for violent incidents during an Éric Zemmour rally in Villepinte at the end of 2021.
A total of 40 people linked to the far-right were arrested on the night of December 14-15 in the Champs-Elysees area of Paris after the Qatar World Cup semi-final between France and Morocco, but of those only 26 were arrested and of them 12 were released without charge.
The Police was on alert for the mobilization of the ultra-right wing in view of the match between France and Morocco and had therefore mobilized 14,000 police and gendarmes throughout France.
