Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu flew over the Russian-controlled areas of Ukraine by helicopter on Sunday and visited servicemen sent to the war front.
«Sergei Shoigu spoke with Russian servicemen on the frontline and thanked them for their exemplary performance in combat missions,» the Ministry under Shoigu said in a statement carried by the Russian news agency TASS.
General Shoigu has received reports directly from the officers and commanders of the so-called «special military operation», the Russian invasion of Ukraine launched last February 24. The Ministry stressed that Shoigu has paid particular attention to logistical support work and deployment conditions, as well as to the work of rearguard and medical units.
On Friday it was Russian President Vladimir Putin who visited the headquarters leading the «special operation» and met with the commanders of the offensive to discuss short- and medium-term plans.
